Is there anything that says summertime in America like flags and puppy dogs? Gosh maybe I should have baked some apple pie? I’m so thankful to live in this country where we are able to enjoy our freedoms.
I have beautiful memories of celebrating the Fourth of July at Redbud Park in Marlow, Oklahoma! With pony rides and watermelon and sparklers and lots of family!
It was a slower time before technology and you could take it all in and go for a swim in the ice-cold water of the public swimming pool! Lordy, it would make our teeth chatter! My dad always hosted the pony rides as a fundraiser for our church and my Uncle Russell would be in charge of the roulette wheel at the Lion Club Booth! Oh summer and childhood and fireworks and sparklers! It was enchanting!
Berkeley Rue is a Jack Russell Terrier Mix Rescue Pup! We have had her over a year! She has brought so much joy into our lives! Our friend Julie Pyle is the President of The Bella Foundation! She is doing awesome work helping dogs get rescued!

Tammy’s Book Recommendation
“Flags are so everywhere, so ever-present that we often barely notice them. But focused through a collector’s vision and a photographer’s eye, the old red, white, and blue brings a smile, a memory, a tear and a lump to our throats. The flag is more than a symbol; it is art, and here are 200 artists’ and designers’ renditions of the ultimate symbol of freedom.
One of the best-known names in American decorating, Mary Emmerling is the author of twenty books, many of them part of her American Country series. She is creative director of Country Home magazine and host of the Country at Home series on HGTV as well as a designer and collector. She lives in Des Moines, Iowa; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Phoenix, Arizona.”
I have three of her books and I love this woman!
