There’s an old, 1920s, refurbished gas station out on a country road between my and Suki’s houses. We thought we’d go check it out!
The pumps supposedly really work!
Suki is wearing heeled booties with striped cut-out accents that coordinate with the stripes in the cute, little, knit dress.
A Kate Spade clutch is a perfect match for the straw fedora.
And then we walked around to the back of it …
… and there were families eating barbecue together, an outdoor stage for live music, lights strung among the trees, all under our glorious country’s flag.
The Real-Real Behind the Scenes
Apparently our home-boy-done-good Toby Keith is behind this wonderful little place on the side of a country road. Here’s a Tulsa newspaper article unraveling the mystery. Oh wait, here’s the better version of the story! Bob Wills played here, Bonnie and Clyde spent a night in the cabins in the back, and actor James Garner’s first job was here pumping gas!
A Little Background Music
It goes without saying how much Suki loves her country. She’s a military daughter, wife, mom, and sister-in-law. Defending our nation is her family’s way of life.
