As a 52-year-old woman (soon to be 53), I am blessed to have girlfriends of all ages, some younger, and some older! During a recent “Girls Weekend” with my older friends, I had on a pair of distressed jeans to go out shopping for the day. One of my friends commented on how cute she thought the outfit looked, but added that she was just “too old” to wear jeans like that anymore.
This made me think. Am I too old to be wearing distressed jeans? And, IS there an age limit on being a little “edgy” with your style? Granted, if your style was to wear cute little mini skirts in your youth, there is definitely an age when you are too old to do that! Denim, however, never goes out of style, and has no age limits (at least in my books).
These photos express the contrast of a polished jacket with the “unpolished” distressed denim. It says “I’m groovy, but grown up”! It is a perfect way for any woman over 50 to wear the distressed denim, while still staying true to her “classic style” roots. Add some rockin’ accessories, and Voila!
The Real-Real Behind the Scenes
EDITOR’S NOTE: Ladies 50+ have lots of opinions about appropriate looks for their age demographic! I think distressed denim is pretty mild in the grand scheme of things and beautiful and interesting when tempered with a tailored jacket like Robin’s. — Marcie
