We are thrilled to introduce to you a new Forever 51 contributor — my friend, Suki Bickett! We were Boy Scout Moms together several years ago, and we love to reminisce fondly about those hilarious memories when our sons were younger. Boy-Moms have a finely developed sense of humor. :^)
Suki revealed that she loves to dress up, and we love that about her! She will share with us outfits that show how to interpret the latest trends into appropriate career, holiday and special event looks with a few more casual ensembles thrown in.
An unusual draping effect at the neckline elevates this fit-and-flare dress with an extra dose of elegance. Icy crystals and faceted beads sparkle against a field of deep, passionate red.
Suki wears a wrist full of memories — Pandora charms from her husband and son added throughout the years and a 24K gold link bracelet from Thailand from her mother.
The dress is Alyx from JCPenney, and this particular fit-and-flare design may still be found in stores near you. Online options include:
Suki’s necklace is Premier Designs Jewelry, but I couldn’t find the exact necklace online. They have a thousand other beautiful options though, lol.
Another interesting choice from Jenny Packham.
The Real-Real Behind the Scenes
Fashion headlines proclaim RED is the most important color in fashion right now, and part of its allure is about women being seen and perceived as strong and confident. Suki is such a great example of a woman who is fashionable and fully participating in this form of self-expression, in a way that is poised, elegant, unafraid, and respectful of her modest ancestry. I can’t think of a better way to introduce Suki than in this joyful, life-embracing, powerful red dress.
A Little Background Music
Elvis wants you to put on your red dress, baby. Alrighty then.
